The October 27, 1932 issue of the Hartford Courant announces the Royal Signet Senior model typewriter. Whereas the Royal Signet model was marketed to those who did not want to pay as much during the depression era, the Senior model of this line was marketed for those who still did not want to pay as much, but who needed a more professional machine. Whearas the shifting of the letters was removed from the Signet so that only caps were possible to be typed, and the font was non-standard, the shift key was added back to the Senior model, along with the more standard pica font. This advertising difference is clear in the newspaper ad to your left, taken from page 9 of The Morning Call, published December 20, 1932.
